Can a company keep your work email account open indefinatly after you leave the company?

Answer

I do not believe that a company is under an obligation to discontinue using a former employee's email account. If, however, the company is listing the email address on marketing material or representing that you are still employed there by replying from your account you may want to send a cease and desist letter.
