How can you sing better without lessons?

How can you sing better without lessons?
Wanna be the next American idol, well its easy to do without commiting to lessons!
1. Join a Curch or School chrious or Chouer
2. Like most of us sing in the shower :)
3. Listen to a ton of music, that way it will work on your tune and let you hear how the pros are doing it!!

Remember this: Your voice is your instrument. You cannot play the piano if you never took lessons for it. Same with your voice. If you train it, you will sing better.
Also, you will need to know a couple of useful tips and tricks, and you need to know some don't"s about singing. ( Google that )

So your saying i gotta get lessons, ? Would singing in a church choir actually count as lessons & would it help ?
