Question

small claims and garnishment of wages

i was in love with a married man and he moved out of his home and into an appartment. i offered to buy him a couch, a bed and any furnishings he needed to get started. i also bought him a laptop. he never asked for any of it, i just bought it . he told me not to have any expectations and that he didn't ask me to do this so not to expect repayments. i told him they were gifts and that i was doing it as a friend. he is now back with his wife and i want his checks garnished for repayment. is that possible without any written agreements.

Re: small claims and garnishment of wages

No.

I don't know whether all three of you are equally familiar with what has gone down, but, given the little I know about women, I don't believe a wife would want any gifts that her husband received from his girlfriend around the house.

You might contact her to get the gifts back before she sets fire to them.

No, of course not. On your facts, the items were gifts.

It's a gift. You don't have a chance of getting a judgment. William S. Stern
