Question

I own a rental company and a customer kept my items for over a week when they were to be returned the following day. I had to pick them up as she was "out of town" so we charged her for 3 days of rental fees (for the late fees as they were the mosst impactful days that our items were not returned) as well a pick up fee because the location was over 15 miles away from our location. To add to the situation, there was one chair missing and she claims that it wasn't missing but no one was at the property because "she was out of town" but somehow someone put the chairs out on the property at 5am for our company to pick up. What can I do to be paid for the late fees, pick up fees and replacement fee for the 1 chair that is missing? She said she would not pay that I should file a claim?

Answer

It seems that all you need to do is send her a demand letter. I can draft such a demand letter for a flat fee of $500.

Answer

File a claim? Sounds like you should file a lawsuit, probably in small-claims court.
