Question

Can and will charges be dropped if witnesses don't show up for court and there no way to identify you at a crime ? Also how many time can they push a court date back

Answer

Probably yes the case will be dropped, or by the very least it will go to trial and it will be dismissed by the judge at the conclusion of the State's case. The State must be able to identify the person in the courtroom as the person who committed the crime.

If the defendant's right to a speedy trial were waived then the court date could be pushed back a long, long time.
