Why would two people be given the same case number in a county .

Question

Why would two people be given the same case number in a county .

Answer

In Harris County, the same case numbers are used for felonies & misdemeanors but not necessary to the same person. One would need to know if the case was a felony, or it was a misdemeanor, to look at the proper case. Otherwise, they should not have the same case number even if they are co-defendants.
