Question

I want to contact and inform my ex-wife's lawyer NOT to send any new legal material about child support to my lawyer but to me only (as I no longer wish to use my current lawyer and will be looking for a new lawyer soon and therefore will be represent myself for the time being). Can my ex-wife's lawyer charge me a fee for this type of communication?

Answer

Until there is a signed Substitution of Attorney the other attorney is obligated to call your attorney regarding the case, but he cannot charge you for any communications.

Answer

I agree with Mr. White. You wouldn't get charged directly, but extensive calling and problem causing could be levied against you either in a motion for you to pay attorney's fees under Family Code sections 271 or 2030.
