How do you measure talented?
do you mean how to measure the talent of a person? that's actually a tough one, it would depend on the circumstances and it would also depend on your ethics and mental standpoint.
for instance; Pablo Picasso, the late and great abstract artist of the renaissance period was never taken seriously for his talent in surrealistic painting for a large portion of his career. when he found the right person to appreciate his unique ability, he became a well known figure, if not a god, of the artistic world. from his work spawned an entire genre of art.
however, in a competitive environment where there are cut and dry standards for talent, (such as singing, dancing, or playing an instrument) there must be a "common sense" consideration to weather or not this person can or cannot preform the task well.
in summation i guess you could say two things: never judge a book by its cover, (meaning always give thought to how good something is on a deeper level), and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
