I did jail time for a warrant that I had already cleared, as verified by a judge. DO I have grounds to sue?

Question

Answer

That depends on exactly what happened. Chances are that someone simply forgot to update a database which would have shown your warrant was no longer open. Such an innocent mistake probably would not give you a viable lawsuit. But I can think of other ways you could have ended up behind bars. In some of those situations you might indeed have a decent case. You should discuss your situation in detail with a lawyer asap.

Good luck.
