Is there a way to make sure the father of my child does not get custody? We're not married and so far in the pregnancy he hasn't been around.

Both parents are considered in the child's best interest. However, if you do not seek to name him on the birth certificate or for himto be ordered to pay support, he may not choose to seek to establish paternity.
