Question

My relative got in an accident while driving his car. He has an insurance coverage on this car and he is a registered owner. I am a co-owner and my name is in registration and title. I don't have insurance coverage for his car.

On the other hand, I have my own car where I am the only registered owner and have a Personal Umbrella Policy.

My question: am I covered by my Umbrella in case he is sued and I am added as a defendant (as a co-owner of the car, even though I was not in the car at the moment of the accident)?

Answer

Ask your insurance carrier. If they say "No," THEN ask a lawyer to review the policies.
