H1-B Question

I work for a University and am currently on OPT. I got my H1 approval with a start date (May 17th) since my OPT expires on May 16th. I am thinking of going to Canada to get it stamped; I have to go before the 10th since I am flying to the UK on the 12th (I cant get it stamped there since I will only be there for a day). If my H1 is stamped on the 9th or 10th can I still come back into the US? What will my status be since my H1 only starts on May 17th. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Answer

Re: H1-B Question

This is a very risky procedure, since there is no guarantee that the US embassy in Canada will stamp your H1B. In fact, you are supposed to apply for an H1B visa in your homecountry. You need to change your travel plans as to going to your home country and apply for H1B visa there.
