Question

the deed of my home is in my son,s name , in order to have some home improvements like a new deck ,a pools , or any other little thing that could come up , do I need a durable power of attorney to obtain permits ?Thank you .

Answer

The answer depends on whether or not you gave your child the deed outright or whether you used a life estate deed. If you transferred property outright to someone else, then yes, that person is the legal owner and you would need a power of attorney to act on their behalf.
